This park is created as a tribute to the vision and ideals of Robert “Tad” Hutchins Jeffrey II, the Jeffrey family and his ancestors, who for generations have been advocates of nature, philanthropy, and social justice as advocated in the teachings of Washington Gladden.  

To provide for the ongoing maintenance of the park and its plantings, a special endowment has been established through a major gift of the Tad and Nancy Jeffrey Fund of the Columbus Foundation.  This gift honors Nancy Jeffrey who served as the park’s lead benefactor and whose early support and guidance led to its development.
