Art & Exhibits
The park is part of a greater arts campus in the Discovery District that includes the First Congregational Church UCC, Columbus College of Art and Design, and the Columbus Art Museum. Through public art installations, the park will add to the area’s growing arts community, but with a unique focus: social justice art.
Our Single Garment of Destiny
The award-winning sculpture was designed by Adriana and Julian Voss-Andreae. The artwork’s title is based upon a Martin Luther King, Jr. quote found in his Letter from Birmingham Jail emphasizing that we are all interconnected and what affects one, affects all. A surprising feature of the artwork is that at a particular angle, the sculpture becomes nearly invisible based upon its design. Social Justice Legends Exhibit (2022-2024)
The park has commissioned an informative mural that highlights a representative sample of the many past social justice leaders from Central Ohio and their causes. Although these legends are no longer with us, they inspire us to follow their example and seek justice for all. The following link provides access to more information about the Legends Exhibit.
Social Justice Pioneers Exhibit (2018-2021)
The park’s first mural in 2018 showcased nine individuals and organizations that were the early leaders of the social justice movement in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. The mural is being redeveloped as a mobile exhibit with an accompanying study guide for touring area schools. The following link provides access to more information about the Pioneers Exhibit.
